New Delhi: Exactly two years ago, the world lost a cricketing gem. March 4, 2024, marks the second death anniversary of Shane Warne, one of the greatest cricketers to grace the game. The Australian spin wizard died on March 4, 2022, at the age of 52 during a vacation in Thailand. He was found unconscious in his private villa by his friends and despite the attempts to save his life by the local authorities couldn’t be revived. It was reported that Warne died of a suspected heart attack. Warne’s body arrived back in Australia almost a week after he died in the Asian country. After a private funeral in his hometown of Melbourne on March 20, a State Memorial Service was organised to honour his legacy on March 30 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Warne is widely regarded as the greatest leg-spinner and one of the best bowlers in the history of cricket. He became famous for reviving leg-spin and dominating the batters with his accuracy, cleverness and variations. Warne, the second-highest wicket-taker in international cricket (1001 wickets) and in Test cricket (708 wickets), was known for bowling magical deliveries. Over the years, he bamboozled the greatest of the batters with some magical deliveries.
