USA cricketer Sanjay Krishnamurthi appreciated the huge number of fans who made the trip to the storied venue of the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to watch the T20 World Cup 2026 clash between the USA and Namibia.

The iconic cricketing landmark, which is also the home to five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Chennai Super Kings, was buzzing on Sunday, February 15, as they cheered for two spirited associate nations. Cricket enthusiasts in Chennai are known for their knowledge of the game, and they must have enjoyed an intriguing contest that the USA eventually won by 31 runs.

Krishnamurthi, who played a significant role in the USA's triumph and was adjudged Player of the Match, said that it was incredible to receive so much support from the massive turnout at Chepauk.

“For a game like USA Vs Namibia to have this kind of crowd is incredible. In Associate cricket, we don’t get such crowds, so it’s really special to see so many out here. I appreciate everyone for coming out," Krishnamurthi said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Earlier in the day, USA skipper Monank Patel won the toss and opted to bat first. He laid the foundation for his team with a 30-ball 52. Shayan Jahangir and Saiteja Mukkamalla got themselves set at the crease but couldn't convert their starts into substantial scores. However, Krishnamurthi top-scored with an unbeaten 33-ball 68, hitting four fours and six sixes. Milind Kumar also chipped in with an important cameo of 28 off 20 balls.

In reply, Namibia got off to a fantastic start as the openers added a half-century stand inside the powerplay. However, Louren Steenkamp was the only batter in the top order who converted his start into a fifty.

Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton and JJ Smit played enterprising cameos, but it wasn't enough for Namibia, who were restricted to 168/6. Shadley van Schalkwyk finished with two wickets, consolidating his position at the top of the list of leading wicket-takers.
