After two consecutive losses to Australia and Sri Lanka, Ireland bounced back in style, securing a dominant 96-run victory over Oman in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Ireland set a massive target of 236, finishing with 235/5, thanks to stellar contributions from their top order. Captain Lorcan Tucker played an exceptional knock of 94 off 51 balls, including 10 fours and 4 sixes. Gareth Delany supported with a brisk 56 off 30 balls, while George Dockrell smashed a quick-fire 35 off just 9 balls, putting Ireland in a commanding position.
Oman’s chase began on the back foot, as they required 236 to win. Aamir Kaleem played a valiant innings, scoring 50 off 29 balls, with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Hammad Mirza also contributed 46 runs, but the rest of Oman’s batters struggled to cope with Ireland’s disciplined bowling attack.
Ireland’s bowlers were at their best, with Joshua Little leading the charge, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs. Matthew Humphreys and Barry McCarthy were both effective, claiming 2 wickets, as Oman was bowled out for just 139 runs in 18 overs.
This victory marks a much-needed turnaround for Ireland after their early setbacks.
