In this match played for Punjab, the 35-year-old faced 47 balls and scored 92 runs with the help of 7 fours and 6 sixes. During this period his strike rate was also 195.74. Although, he missed scoring his century but played an important role in RCB's victory and for his performance Kohli was adjudged Player of the Match. While talking in the post match presentation after the match ended, Kohli made a big statement.

He said, “I am still trying to focus on quality over quantity. I am at that stage in my career from where I understand my game very well. I am still improving my game and try to bowl slog sweeps against spinners. However, I don't practice this shot. I know I can play such shots because I have done it before. “I need to take a little risk to improve my strike rate in the middle overs.”

Virat further said that “We were not that good in the initial phase of the tournament. We had stopped looking at the points table and were playing for our self-respect. We had to face a close defeat in that match against KKR and if we had won that match, the situation in the points table would not have been like this today. We can't play like that out there and let our fans down. “Our confidence is back and if we had played well at the beginning of the tournament, we would not have had to depend on other aspects.”
