Virat Kohli's strike rate has been in the headlines continuously in the 17th season of IPL. Many former players raised questions on his playing style and fans on social media also urged him to play faster. However, after playing an inning of 92 runs against Punjab today, he has definitely given a befitting reply to his critics.
After the end of RCB's innings, Virat Kohli came to talk to the broadcasters and he laughingly said, 'It was important to maintain a good strike rate throughout the innings. So I wanted to keep the momentum going. It was a difficult period when Rajat was out. Our three wickets fell and the rain came. So we needed some time to settle but once Cameron Green came and had a good partnership with him, I thought I should play fast again.
Regarding the pitch, Virat Kohli further said, 'The wicket was a bit two-sided, this is a great opportunity for our bowlers to get a good start. We were not thinking that such a good score would be made while batting first. We thought 230+ would be a good score here. The bowlers are in full swing with their recent successes. Harshal's last over was very good, otherwise we would have scored more than 250 runs.
On batting against Punjab Kings' new bowler Vedavath Kawerappa, Virat Kohli said, 'It is difficult to analyze him in just one game. He has good swing but when a bowler is new it is difficult to figure out his bowling skills quickly. There is height and swing too. Congratulations to him for making a good start with the new ball but by the fourth over the swing was over. Virat Kohli was caught at zero on the bowling of Vedavath Kavarappa.
