T20 World Cup 2026 Points Table Updated: After the 13th match of the T20 World Cup, it has become clear in the points table of Group D that which team is going to go to the next round and whose card is going to be wiped out. South Africa defeated Afghanistan in the match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. South Africa got this victory in the super over. Afghanistan missed victory in this match which lasted for two super overs and with this, it is now considered almost certain that they will be out of T20 World Cup 2026.

Afghanistan is in big trouble

Talking about the points table of Group D, New Zealand, Afghanistan and South Africa have played 2-2 matches. The teams of New Zealand and South Africa are at first and second position after winning both the matches. Whereas the Afghan team has lost both the matches. This means that now this team will have to win the next two matches and at the same time it will also have to pray that New Zealand or South Africa has to lose both their remaining matches, which is difficult to happen. The net run rate of Afghanistan team is also -0.555.

Now this team has to play its remaining two matches with UAE and Canada and both of them will have to defeat them in a one-sided manner.

The thrill of the South Africa-Afghanistan match

Even though Afghanistan lost the match to South Africa, this match was very exciting. Batting first, South Africa scored 187 runs in 20 overs, in reply Afghanistan tied the match by scoring the same score. After this, Afghanistan scored 17 runs in the first super over, in reply South Africa was saved by Tristan Stubbs. South Africa had to score 10 runs for a tie on the last two balls and Stubbs broke Afghanistan's heart by hitting a four and a six.

In the second super over, Stubbs and Miller took South Africa to 23 runs. Afghan batsman Gurbaz made the match exciting by hitting sixes on the third, fourth and fifth balls but he could not hit a boundary on the sixth ball and South Africa got the victory.
