Bangladesh overturned (Photo: PTI)
T20 World Cup 2026 Now a U-turn is being seen from Bangladesh on its decision to withdraw from India. Within 20 days, Bangladesh has retracted its statement. In the latest statement given on February 10, Bangladesh's Sports Advisor Asif Nazrul said that the decision to withdraw from the T20 World Cup 2026 was entirely that of the country's cricket board and its players. The surprising thing is that the latest statement is exactly the opposite of what was said on January 22.
On January 22, it was said that the decision to withdraw from the T20 World Cup 2026 was entirely that of the Bangladesh government.
Bangladesh's sports advisor Asif Nazrul had met the players on January 22, after which Liton Das revealed that the players were not involved in any discussion regarding their exit from the World Cup.Whereas, Asif Nazrul had said after that meeting that the players have been informed about the government's decision. While talking to journalists on January 22, he had said that the main objective of the meeting was to inform the players about the government's decision.
To explain to them why the government took the step of withdrawing from T20 World Cup 2026? I think he would have understood. But, what he has said now has surprised people. Asif Nazrul said on February 10 that the decision to pull out of the T20 World Cup 2026 was not of the government but of the BCB and the players. He has made this sacrifice to save the dignity of the country and its cricket.

However, Asif Nazrul has praised ICC's recent attitude towards Bangladesh. Even after being out of T20 World Cup 2026, ICC took a soft stance on Bangladesh and did not impose any sanctions. He also said that Bangladesh will continue to host international matches.
