Former batter turned commentator Mohammad Kaif lauded Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head for their ‘career-ending’ batting performance last night. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head have intimidated opposition bowlers throughout the IPL 2024 season.

This time, they decided to tear apart the Lucknow Super Giants bowling unit in front of their fans at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. The stitched a partnership of 167 runs to lead their franchise to a win by 10 wickets in 9.4 overs.

Reviewing the game, Mohammad Kaif revealed that SRH have adopted the Australia’s ‘never die’ mindset after the inclusion of two Australian World Champions, Pat Cummins and Travis Head, in the team.

“Pat Cummins and Travis Head both hail from Australia. That’s the Australian intent. I recall the Australia vs. India World Cup final in 2003. The sky was cloudy. We won the toss, and (Sourav) Ganguly predicted that the ball would swing, hence we would win the game. But Australia had different plans and scored 360,” he stated.

Kaif added that Head and Sharma’s explosive batting style has threatened bowlers’ careers

“This is not the first time that this has occurred. We have seen in this IPL that bowlers are incapable to stop these two batters. Their explosive batting may kill a bowler’s career,” Kaif continued.

Kaif also warned SRH’s future opponents that they must take note of their performance.

“In today’s game, I think there was an additional test. When it’s a ‘do or die’ game, SRH raise the bar. They made a statement to their future opponents. GT are going to face SRH next. So be prepared,” Kaif concluded.
