Lucknow: The ICC T-20 World Cup is to be played in June 2024. Keeping this in mind, all the cricket boards are announcing their teams and now Sri Lanka has also joined this series. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced its team and star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga will be seen captaining the team in this tournament. So Charith Asalanka has been made the vice-captain of the team. Experienced player Angelo Mathews has also been included in this team and he will provide stability to the team in the middle order.

Let us tell you that in IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana has also got a place in the team, who is currently out due to injury. So Dilshan Madhushanka and Nuwan Thushara have also been included in fast bowling. Apart from this, experienced Dushmantha Chameera will be seen leading the pace. So in the spin department the captain himself and Mahish Tikshina will take charge.

Talking about batting, star players like Pathum Nishanka, Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka, Sadira Samarawickrama will be seen in it. Let us tell you that after the defeat in the ICC World Cup 2023, Hasaranga was appointed the captain of the team. However, at present he is away from cricket due to injury and will be completely fit by the World Cup. Due to injury, he could not play in IPL 2024, where he was a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Sri Lanka has been included in Group D in this World Cup, where Bangladesh, Netherlands, Nepal and South Africa are present along with them. The Sri Lankan team will play its first match against South Africa on 3 June.
