Sports Desk: With the help of India’s star batsman KL Rahul’s brilliant 130 runs, Karnataka eliminated 42-time champion Mumbai in the quarter-finals of Ranji Trophy by crossing the difficult target of 325 runs. This match was played at Sharad Pawar Academy located in Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai.
Rahul scored his 24th first-class century, scoring 130 runs in 182 balls with the help of 14 fours and a six. Rahul’s brilliant batting led Karnataka to victory and got a chance to reach the semi-finals. Apart from Rahul, Smaran Ravichandran also gave strength to his team by scoring unbeaten 83 runs with the help of 11 fours in 123 balls.
Ultimately Vidyadhar Patil scored the winning run and ensured a big victory for Karnataka. Now Karnataka will face Uttarakhand, playing for the first time, in the semi-finals starting from February 15.
Jammu and Kashmir created history in another match
Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) entered the Ranji Trophy semi-finals for the first time after defeating Madhya Pradesh (MP) by 56 runs in Indore with the help of Auqib Nabi’s brilliant 12 wickets.
Jammu and Kashmir made it to the Ranji Trophy semi-finals after 67 years, whereas the last time they reached the knockouts was six years ago. This season, Auqib Nabi took 12 wickets for 110 runs, which shows his excellent performance. Nabi is the only seamer among the top-5 bowlers with 46 wickets this season.
Auqib bowled a tremendous spell of 7/40 in the first innings and then 5/70 in the second innings. Madhya Pradesh, chasing 291 runs, was all out for 234 runs. In this match, Saransh Jain scored 64 runs in 81 balls, which included seven fours and one six. Now Jammu and Kashmir will face the winner of the quarter-final between Andhra and Bengal.
