Scotland batted first and scored 207 runs, in reply Italy was bundled out for 134 runs in just 16.4 overs. The hero of Scotland's victory was all-rounder Michael Leask, who performed brilliantly with ball and bat. Apart from scoring 22 unbeaten runs, Leask took 4 wickets for just 17 runs in 4 overs. This is the highest strike rate in an innings of at least 20 runs in T20 World Cup history. Earlier this record was in the name of former West Indies batsman Dwayne Smith, who had scored 29 runs in 7 balls against Bangladesh in 2007. However, Yuvraj Singh has the highest strike rate in fifty plus score. Who scored 58 runs in 16 balls against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup and his strike rate was 362.5.

Scotland ahead of England in points table

With defeat of Italy, Scotland team has come second in the points table of Group C. This team has left England behind. Scotland has won one out of two matches and its net run rate is better than England. Although England has played only one match. Scotland's next match is against England.
