Yuzvendra Chahal: Team India's star bowler Yuzvendra Chahal has been away from international cricket for a long time. Recently he has made his debut in commentary. He is also a part of Star Sports' Hindi commentary team for the T20 World Cup 2026. Team India played its first match in this tournament against America, where Yuzvendra Chahal was seen in the commentary box. But during this time, two former Indian cricketers crossed the limits while joking with Yuzvendra Chahal, due to which he got embroiled in controversy.
Actually, during this match, former Indian cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Virender Sehwag made fun of Yuzvendra Chahal about his thin physique. He addressed Chahal with names like 'wood', 'match stick' and 'dancing pole' and he kept talking about it laughingly for a long time. All this happened during the Hindi commentary, where Chahal himself was present on the panel. Harbhajan and Sehwag had the style of local boys, but this joke on live TV proved a bit uncomfortable for Chahal. Chahal remained mostly silent, neither laughed nor replied, which made it seem one-sided.
Presenter Jatin Sapru also found this situation a bit strange and he quickly turned the discussion back to the match. After this incident went viral on social media, fans linked it to body shaming of Yuzvendra Chahal. Some fans took it as a friendly joke and called it a part of fun, while many people called it insulting. Fans said that former players should exercise more restraint in live commentary, especially when there is a teammate who is unable to respond.
