2 New Zealand players had a massive collision with each other
It's only been a day since the T20 World Cup 2026 started and already we are seeing intense action. Two major upsets happened on the very first day of the tournament. A dangerous accident was averted the next day. New Zealand and Afghanistan were face to face in the fourth match of the T20 World Cup. In this match, the New Zealand team was bowling first but something happened in the third over of the innings, due to which two of its players collided with each other. This one scene put the players and spectators present there in tension for some time.
This match was played on Sunday 8th February at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, in which the Afghan team was batting first. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sadiqullah Atal were opening for him and both were trying to attack from the beginning. However, he was not getting much success and was not able to connect the shots on most of the occasions. Something similar happened in the third over, when fast bowler Matt Henry was bowling and Gurbaz was on strike.

This was the fifth ball of this over, on which Henry tried a bouncer. Gurbaz attempted a pull shot but was not successful. The ball took the upper edge of the bat and rose high in the air towards the back of the wicket. Seeing the possibility of a catch, three New Zealand fielders started running, including wicketkeeper Tim Seifert. As soon as it was the turn to take the catch, Seifert and Finn Allen had a massive collision and both fell on the field. For the next few seconds both were on the ground and looking at each other.
However, it is a matter of relief that the players did not suffer any damage due to this collision and there were no injuries of any kind. Both of them stood up and everyone heaved a sigh of relief. There were no injuries to the players but the team definitely suffered a loss. Due to this collision, the catch was missed and Rahmanullah Gurbaz got the life of his life. At that time he was on only 7 runs. Gurbaz took advantage of this and added 20 runs to his score and finally got out after scoring 27 runs. Lockie Ferguson took this wicket. He also dismissed Gurbaz's opening partner Ibrahim Zadran in the same over.
