Mission ‘highest chase’ successful!

In the final, RCB chased down a 204-run target with two balls to spare to register the highest successful chase in WPL history. Smriti Mandhana’s 87 and Georgia Voll’s 79 anchored the pursuit, before Radha Yadav sealed the win with a couple of fours in the last over.

The WPL had no centurion until the MI vs RCB clash, but the season still featured several near-misses in the 90s. It began with Gujarat Giants’ Sophie Devine, who smashed a spectacular 95 against Delhi Capitals before falling short. RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana also got agonisingly close to three figures against the Capitals, only to be dismissed by debutant Lucy Hamilton. Richa Ghosh’s blistering 90 off 50 balls against Mumbai Indians was a stunning display of power-hitting, but it came in a losing cause.
