As expected, Team India's start in the T20 World Cup 2026 was not the same. In its very first match of the World Cup, the Indian team registered a big victory but even against a small team like America, Team India's batting disappointed. If captain Suryakumar Yadav was not there, Team India could have lost this match. But apart from him, Mohammad Siraj also played a big role in saving India from reverses. This feat of Siraj, who proved to be the most successful bowler of the team, was also special because this match and tournament was not a part of his plan till about 48 hours ago.

Captain Surya took all the applause for Team India's victory, which he deserved, but Siraj also won everyone's heart. Actually this fast bowler was not selected for the T20 World Cup. But due to Harshit Rana's injury a day before the tournament, he was included in the team and then due to Jasprit Bumrah falling ill, he got a chance to take the field in the very first match. If all this had not happened, then Siraj's real plan was to go to Spain to watch the match of his favorite football club Real Madrid.

After Team India's victory, Siraj revealed how everything changed due to a call from captain Surya 2 days before the match. The Indian pacer said, "Surya Bha said - 'Mian, pack your bag and come'. I also told him that brother, don't joke because this is not going to happen. But he said - 'I am telling the truth, get ready'. After this, Ojha Bhai (selector Pragyan Ojha) also called… There is a match of Real Madrid on 15th February, I was going to go to watch it and then it was Ramzan but whatever God has written…"

Talking about the match, Team India defeated America (USA) by 29 runs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav proved to be the star of this victory, who despite losing 6 wickets for only 77 runs, took the team to a worthy score of 161 runs. The captain played an explosive inning of 84 runs in 49 balls. But after this, Mohammad Siraj put USA in trouble by giving 2 shocks in his first 2 overs. Ultimately USA's innings ended at 132 runs. Siraj took 3 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs.
