Delhi: The 10th edition of the ICC T20 World Cup has started. The second match on the opening day of the tournament is being played between West Indies and Scotland in Chennai. In this match being held in Kolkata, West Indies batted first and scored 182 runs.
In this Group C match, Scotland captain Richie Barrington invited the West Indies team to bat first after the toss fell in his favor, after which the Caribbean team came out to bat first.
West Indies’ opening pair Brandon King and captain Shai Hope started cautiously. Both of them also played shots on bad balls and added 50 runs, giving a solid start to their team, but West Indies had to lose the wicket of captain Shai Hope on the second ball of the 9th over at the score of 54 runs. Hope scored 19 runs in 22 balls.
After Shai Hope was out, his teammate Brandon King also walked out and the Caribbean team suffered a second blow at 58 runs. After this, Shimron Hetmyer batted in a stormy style, while Rovman Powell supported him well. Both the batsmen took the team beyond 100 and Hetmyer scored fifty in just 22 balls.
Rovman Powell, after playing a good partnership, became the victim of Brad Curry at the score of 139 runs in the 16th over, Powell scored 24 runs in 14 balls. After this Sherfan Rutherford batted stormily. Rutherford scored 26 runs in 13 balls with 4 fours and 1 six and Hetmyer scored 64 runs in 36 balls with 2 fours and 6 sixes. West Indies scored 182 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Scotland will have to score 183 runs to win.
