Shakib Al Hasan is indeed one of the biggest names in Bangladesh cricket in the modern era. He is perhaps the team’s greatest cricket player right now, having won recognition for his on-field exploits both in international competition and in domestic leagues across the globe. Without a question, he is showered with affection and support in his own nation.
It makes sense that his supporters would want to interact with him. But things went awry as Shakib lost his temper after a fan attempted to take a selfie with him.
In a video, a fan is seen requesting Shakib for a selfie. At first, the all-rounder graciously rejects, but after the fan persists, the 37-year-old snaps and grabs the fan by the neck. He also attempts to snatch the fan’s phone, and drags him away causing an ugly scene. The video is now making rounds on social media.
As per reports from the Bangladeshi local media, the event is said to have occurred during a Dhaka Premier League match.
Notably, this is not the first controversy for the Bangladeshi all-rounder. Shakib once kicked the stumps and even uprooted them after losing cool on umpire.
The southpaw ranks first among all-rounders in T20Is, second in ODIs, and third in Tests.
