T20 World Cup 2026 has not even started and Team India has already started getting bad news. Young fast bowler Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the entire tournament a day before the World Cup. Now the biggest shock has come in the form of star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. According to a report, it is difficult for Jasprit Bumrah to play in the India-America match to be held on 7th February. It has been claimed that Bumrah suddenly fell ill, due to which he will be rested from this match.
Bumrah will not play for this reason!
India and USA This match is to be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from 7 pm on Saturday 7th February. This will be Team India's first match in Group-A. But in this, captain Suryakumar Yadav may have to go without his star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. A report in Indian Express has revealed that Bumrah suddenly got high viral fever, due to which he will be rested from this match.
It has been told in the report that Bumrah had reached the field for the practice session of Team India a day before the match i.e.
on Friday 6th February. However, he did not do any kind of practice during this period. In such a situation, considering the importance of this match and the upcoming matches of the tournament, the team management is in no mood to do anything hasty regarding the star pacer and there is every possibility of giving him rest.Click here to read every news of T20 World Cup
Who will get the chance in place of Bumrah?
Now the question is who will get a chance in the playing-11 in place of Bumrah? After Bumrah's exit, only two major fast bowlers are left in Team India - Arshdeep Singh and Mohammad Siraj.
In such a situation, Team India will take the field with both of them. Siraj got a place in Team India just a day before the match because young pacer Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to a knee injury. All-rounder Hardik Pandya will play the role of the third fast bowler.Beautiful but still the situation is not clear
The situation is still not clear regarding young all-rounder Washington Sundar. Sundar suffered an injury during the ODI series against New Zealand, due to which he could not play in the T20 series.
Since then, he is undergoing rehabilitation under the supervision of the medical team and trainers at BCCI's Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. Team India is expecting his return, hence still retaining him in the squad.
