India defeated England by 100 runs in the final of the U19 World Cup 2026 on February 6. It was their sixth title in the history of the global tournament.

Chasing 412 runs, the English side was dismissed for 311 runs in 40.2 overs, with Ben Dawkins scoring 66 runs off 56 deliveries, with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes. Several batters got starts, but none of them managed to score a big hundred to keep their team in the contest. Joseph Moores’ 16-ball 17 looked good before RS Ambrish undid him.

Ben Mayes struck 7 boundaries and 2 sixes in his innings of 45 runs off 28 deliveries before he returned to the dressing room. The scoring rate and scoreboard pressure forced England players to go for big shots, resulting in their downfall. Captain Thomas Rew took 18 balls to post 31 runs, laced with 4 fours and 1 maximum, but he too perished.

Calen Falconer kept one end intact, but the wickets kept falling from the other. Calon hit a well-compiled hundred, amassing 115 runs off 67 balls, with the help of 9 fours and 7 boundaries.

Ralphie Albert (0), Farhan Ahmed (1) and Sebastian Morgan (0) had no answers to India’s brilliant bowling and fielding display. James Minto (28 off 41) showed some resistance.

RS Ambrish took three wickets for India while Deepesh Devendran and Kanishk Chouhan claimed two scalps each. Khilan Patel and Mhatre added one wicket each to their bowling figures.

Earlier, it was a one-man show in the first innings, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi blazing all guns. The 14-year-old scored 175 runs off 80 balls, packed with 15 fours and 15 sixes. He single-handedly batted England out of the game. Skipper Ayush Mhatre struck 53 runs in 51 deliveries, smashing 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Abhigyan Kundu (40 off 31), Kanishk Chouhan (37* off 20), Vedant Trivedi (32 off 36) and Vihaan Malhotra (30 off 36) scored without any pressure.

James Minto picked up three scalps for England, while Alex Green and Morgan claimed two scalps each. Manny Lumsden added 1 wicket to his bowling figures.
