Fans and the former players have reacted to the interaction between KL Rahul and Lucknow Super Giants’ owner Sanjiv Goenka after the team’s humiliating defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. LSG faced the wrath of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, as the opening pair completed the chase in just 9.4 overs.
Goenka was furious with Rahul following the game as LSG lost by 10 wickets. The videos of their exchange went viral on social media, and the owner of LSG was slammed for his shocking behaviour.
Fans claimed that Goenka should have waited to speak to Lucknow captain. Mike Hesson and Graeme Smith voiced a similar opinion.
“He’s just onto him. As he expresses his worries, KL responds, ‘Hold on, we’re not quite sure what you’re asking us to do.’ It was evident that LSG was playing a more cautious style of cricket while SRH were dominating in the field from the first ball. Without a doubt, there was a noticeable difference between it and the way Sunrisers play. He is conveying his dissatisfaction,” said Hesson on Jio Cinema.
Although Graeme Smith thought the owner was “passionate,” these kinds of discussions have their proper place and time. He expressed his sympathy with Rahul as well, pointing out that the LSG captain would find it challenging to respond to questions in his conversation with Goenka.
“The owner is incredibly passionate. His squad has been taken to cleaners, and emotions have been escalated. You believe that these discussions ought to take place in private. There are cameras everywhere and everything is captured. KL Rahul would now attend press conferences and other events, possibly providing the explanation of the topics addressed,” added Smith.
