Gujarat Giants were in danger of posting a below-par total against the Delhi Capitals in the Eliminator of the Women’s Premier League 2026, but magnificent batting by veteran Beth Mooney took the score to 168/7 in the allotted 20 overs. She scored an unbeaten 62 runs off 51 balls, laced with 6 boundaries. The Capitals were ordinary in the bowling department and conceded 25 extra runs. GG scored 103 runs in the last 10 overs, with Mooney keeping the scorecard ticking despite losing the wickets at regular intervals.

Gujarat had a terrible start, with star batter Sophie Devine returning to the dressing room after posting 6 runs off 9 balls.

Anushka Sharma hit two boundaries in her innings of 16 runs in 13 balls, but she failed to carry on with GG losing two wickets for 38 runs. The biggest setback came in the form of captain Ashleigh Gardner, who was dismissed without troubling the scorers, with the score stuck at 38.

Kanika Ahuja’s (6) dismissal put the team in all sorts of trouble with just 59 runs on the board. Mooney joined hands with all-rounder Georgia Wareham and added 61 runs for the fifth wicket. When Wareham was undone, Delhi had a chance to put the brakes on the scoring rate, but Kashvee Gautam’s 10-ball 18, including 3 boundaries, helped the Giants to post a challenging total.

Chinelle Henry was phenomenal with the ball, taking three wickets, while Nandani Sharma picked up two scalps.
