Ghaziabad. A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Bharat City Society of Ghaziabad, adjacent to Delhi, where three minor sisters committed suicide by jumping from the 9th floor. This incident has once again sparked debate about the dangerous trap of online gaming and its ill effects. It is believed that the three sisters were addicted to a ‘task-based’ Korean online game and that is why they took this dreadful step.
What is the whole matter?
According to the information, the three sisters, aged 16, 14 and 12, were completely engrossed in online gaming. It is being told that when their parents stopped them from playing the game, they decided to commit suicide together. Police have found the suicide note, which reportedly reads, “Sorry Mom-Papa, we are going to Korea”, which directly points towards the Korean game which is believed to be the reason for their death.
Online challenges have taken lives before
This is not the first case when an online game or challenge has taken someone’s life. Even before this, dangerous online trends like ‘Blue Whale’, ‘Kiki Challenge’ and ‘Momo Challenge’ have become the cause of death of many people across the world. All these challenges were also task based and used to psychologically manipulate the player and force them to take dangerous steps.
How do these deadly games work?
Such online games cannot be downloaded from any app store. These are often spread through closed groups or communities on social media. In these, the participants are given tasks through messages and are encouraged to complete them. These tasks gradually become so dangerous that the user’s life is at stake.
This incident in Ghaziabad once again highlights the dangers of online gaming. This is a warning to the government and society to keep a close eye on the online activities of their children and make them aware to protect themselves from such dangerous trends.
