India registered a dominant win in Thiruvananthapuram after posting their third-highest total in T20 cricket. Batting first, the hosts piled up a massive 271 runs, powered by a sensational century from opener Ishan Kishan, who reached the milestone in just 42 balls. Captain Suryakumar Yadav also etched his name into the record books by becoming the fastest batter to complete 3,000 T20 runs in terms of balls faced.

Chasing the huge target, New Zealand showed fighting spirit but fell short despite some aggressive batting. Opener Finn Allen led the charge with a blistering 80 off 38 balls, keeping the visitors in the contest during the middle overs.

However, the asking rate proved too steep as Indian bowlers struck at regular intervals.

Arshdeep Singh was the star with the ball, picking up five wickets to halt New Zealand’s momentum and seal a comfortable 46-run victory for India. The win helped India clinch the five-match T20 series 4-1, ending the contest on a high note in front of the home crowd.

India’s massive 271-run total against New Zealand became their third-highest score in T20 cricket. Overall, it stands as the fifth-highest T20 total achieved by a full member (Test-playing) nation. The record for the highest T20 score belongs to England, who smashed 304 for 2 last year.
India’s own best effort remains the 297 for 6 they scored against Bangladesh in Hyderabad in 2024.

Team India eqalled record for most sixes in an innings.
India smashed 23 sixes in the match, equalling their own T20 record set against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2024. The team also created history by hitting the most sixes in a bilateral T20 series. Across the five-match series, India struck 69 sixes, surpassing England’s previous record of 64 sixes against West Indies in 2023.
