Rajkot . The deadly hobby of making reels and selfies for social media turned into a major accident in Rajkot, Gujarat. Two youths died tragically, while another youth was seriously injured after being hit by the speeding Vande Bharat Express on Monday afternoon near the Maldhari railway gate between Bhaktinagar and Ribda railway station. This accident happened when the three youths were standing very close to the railway track and making videos from their mobile phones.

The three youths who were victims of the accident were originally from Uttar Pradesh and earned their living by working as laborers in a factory in Rajkot. The deceased have been identified as Sandeep Patel and Sandeep Kohri. At the same time, the name of the injured youth is Kapil, whose condition remains critical in the hospital. According to eyewitnesses and police, the youth were busy making reels and clicking photographs near the track as the Vande Bharat train was passing at high speed on its scheduled route. The speed of the train was so fast that the youth did not even get a chance to control themselves and they were directly hit by it.
The collision was so strong that one youth died on the spot, while the other youth died during treatment. Injured Kapil was immediately taken to Rajkot Civil Hospital through 108 ambulance. After this incident, a huge crowd gathered at the spot and rail traffic was also disrupted for some time. As soon as the information was received, senior officials of the local police and railway police reached the spot with their team.

Rajkot South ACP Bhavesh Jadhav said that from the preliminary investigation and statements of eyewitnesses it has become clear that the youth were recording videos along with the train. He said that this is a case of complete negligence. At present, the police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and their families have been informed. This tragic incident has once again raised serious questions on the ignorance of safety rules near the railway track. The railway administration has repeatedly appealed to the public to stay away from dangerous activities like taking selfies or making videos near the tracks. With the advent of high-speed trains like Vande Bharat, even a small mistake near the railway track can prove fatal.
