Lucknow: Team India had to face defeat at the hands of Australia in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023 played hosted by India.

India's batting proved to be a flop in this match, whereas captain Rohit Sharma gave a good start to the Indian team. After this, after losing two consecutive wickets, Indian batsmen started defending and did not play attacking cricket. Now talking about this, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has targeted Virat Kohli and KL Rahul without naming them.

Let us tell you that Rahul batted very slowly in the World Cup final and due to this, Team India failed to score a big score. On the other hand, after 10 overs, the Indian team could not even hit many boundaries and due to this they were all out for 240 runs in 50 overs. Australia won it by 6 wickets. Now while talking to CNBC Awaaz, he has given a big statement on this matter.

Sehwag was asked that it has been more than 10 years and till now we have not been able to win an ICC trophy? On this, the former Indian player targeted Virat and Rahul without taking names. He said, “If we talk about the last World Cup final, India had to face defeat at the hands of Australia. In this match no one played fearless cricket between 11 overs and 40 overs. Meanwhile we hit only one or two fours. I can give you an example that when we were part of the team in 2007-08 and from there till 2011, we used to think of every match as if it was a knockout match.

The former Indian cricketer further said, “We were playing with such a mentality and you saw that during this period we won many ICC trophies. If you play all the matches thinking of knockout, then that kind of mentality is formed. I think there should be the mentality of playing fearless cricket in the dressing room of Team India. Play cricket with some aggression, fearlessness and courage and I think this is not visible in the team at the moment.”
