Palamu. In Jharkhand, three members of the same family were murdered with a stick in Kusdi village of Panki police station area of Palamu district around 4 am on Sunday, while a girl was seriously injured in the attack. Injured 15-year-old Mamta Kumari has been admitted to Medini Rai Medical College Hospital after first aid. The police is seriously investigating the entire matter.

The deceased have been identified as 45-year-old Vijay Bhuinya, his wife Hemanti Devi, 40, and son 25-year-old Chhotu Kumar. The deceased were attacked by their own neighbors and brothers Ravindra Bhuiyan and Pramod Bhuiyan. Both the accused are absconding since the incident.

According to local people, 65-year-old Maheshi Bhuiyan, father of accused Ravindra and Pramod, died at around 3 am on Sunday morning. It is alleged that believing his death to be due to evil spirits, the two brothers attacked neighbor Vijay Bhuinya and his family. First, Vijay Bhuinya was killed with a stick considering him to be an exorcist or a sorcerer, after which his wife and son were also killed. Mamta Kumari was seriously injured in the attack.

Local people say that there was a dispute going on between the two families for a long time regarding exorcism and witchcraft. Maheshi Bhuyan was ill for the past several days and his family alleged that Vijay Bhuyan had possessed him. Several agreements were reached in the village, but the dispute did not subside.

Here, the police did not reach the spot for about four hours after the incident, due to which anger spread among the villagers.

However, at around 9 am in the morning, Panki police reached the spot and started investigating the case. Lesliganj Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Manoj Kumar Jha confirmed the incident and said that the bodies are being sent for post-mortem. Police are conducting raids in search of the accused brothers and investigation into the entire matter is ongoing.—-
