Solidifying their status in domestic cricket, Mumbai secured a dominating win over Tamil Nadu, advancing to the final of the Ranji Trophy with a comprehensive innings and 70-run win on Day 3.

Bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur emerged as the standout performer, delivering a stellar all-round performance to propel Mumbai to victory. Thakur's batting prowess took front seat on Day 2, where he scored 109 runs and providing Mumbai with a commanding lead of 232 runs in the first innings.

For Tamil Nadu, wicketkeeper Baba Indrajith, who waged a lone battle for Tamil Nadu with a resilient knock of 70 runs, the visitors struggled to mount a significant challenge against the formidable Mumbai side.

Tamil Nadu's top-order faltered once again, failing to make meaningful contributions, while the middle-order succumbed to the pressure exerted by Mumbai's relentless bowling attack.

Although the duo of Indrajith and Pradosh Ranjan Paul managed to forge a brief resistance, stitching a 73-run partnership for the fourth wicket, it proved insufficient to thwart Mumbai's dominance.

The catalyst of Mumbai's win was bowling all-rounder Thakur (109; 2/48 and 2/16), whodragged them back into the contest from a perilous state of 106/7 in the first innings to an overall lead of 232 runs with his maiden century across formats.

Thakur was all over TN with a two-wicket burst early on day three, helping Mumbai reduce the visitors to 10/3 in the second innings.
