Delhi: The five-match T20 International series played between India and New Zealand ended with a bang at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. In the last match, Team India performed brilliantly and defeated New Zealand by 46 runs and ended the series with a win, where the hosts won the series 4-1.

Indian batsmen’s storm after the toss

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bat first, which proved to be completely right. The Indian batsmen adopted an aggressive approach from the very beginning and kept the New Zealand bowlers under constant pressure. Team India scored a huge score of 271 runs after losing 5 wickets in 20 overs.

Ishan Kishan’s century, Surya-Hardik’s strong support

The hero of the Indian innings was wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan, who played a century inning of 103 runs in an explosive manner. Captain Suryakumar Yadav scored a quick half-century of 63 runs, while Hardik Pandya further strengthened the score by playing a useful inning of 42 runs.

Kiwi team faltered while chasing the target

The New Zealand team, which came to chase the big target of 272 runs, could not stand in front of the Indian bowlers despite a fast start. The entire team was all out after scoring 225 runs in 19.4 overs. For New Zealand, Finn Allen played a brilliant inning of 80 runs, but he did not get enough support from other batsmen.

Arshdeep’s deadly bowling

Arshdeep Singh wreaked havoc in the Indian bowling, taking 5 wickets and breaking the backs of the opposition batsmen. Axar Patel also performed brilliantly and took 3 important wickets, which ended New Zealand’s hopes of a comeback.

India’s powerful message in the series

India’s performance in this series before the T20 World Cup 2026 was very satisfactory. Captain Suryakumar’s return to form proved to be a big relief for the team, while Ishaan, who returned after a long time, gave a strong signal to the selectors with his aggressive batting. Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakraborty also looked impressive in the bowling department.

However, the only worry for Team India in this series was the continuous failure of wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson, who failed to make an impact even in the final match. Despite this, overall India through this series clearly demonstrated both its strength and balance ahead of the upcoming big tournament.
