India defeated New Zealand by 48 runs in the fifth T20I to clinch the series 4-1 on January 31. Chasing a target of 272 runs in the allotted 20 overs, Mitchell Santner’s team was dismissed for 225 in 19.4 overs, with Finn Allen amassing 82 runs off 39 balls, including 8 fours and 6 sixes. Although Rachin Ravindra (30 off 17) and Daryl Mitchell (26 off 12) hit a few boundaries and sixes, their efforts were not big enough to take the Kiwis to a win.
The Indian team easily dismissed the remaining batters, and it was only Ish Sodhi, who looked impressive in the lower order, amassing 33 runs off 15 balls. For India, Arshdeep Singh (5 wickets) and Axar Patel (3 wickets) were the top performers with the ball.
Earlier, India were unstoppable in their innings after winning the toss, with Ishan Kishan accumulating 103 runs off 43 deliveries, laced with 10 sixes and 6 boundaries. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav struck the third fifty of the series, posting 63 runs in 30 deliveries, packed with 6 sixes and 4 fours.
Hardik Pandya went berserk in the death overs, managing 17-ball 42, with the help of 4 maximums and 1 boundary. Abhishek Sharma was once again impactful, making a contribution of 30 off 16 and hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. All the New Zealand bowlers were expensive, and it was Lockie Ferguson who sent the two rivals back. Mitchell Santner, Kyle Jamieson, and Jacob Duffy picked up 1 scalp each.

Ishan Kishan was named the Player of the Match for his blistering knock.
India clinched the series 4-1.
India won the match by 48 runs at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.
Ishan Kishan was adjudged the Player of the Match for his maiden hundred in T20Is.
