Worcester CC signs Basil Thampi for Worcestershire County League 2026

Indian fast bowler Basil Thampi has signed with Worcester Cricket Club for the 2026 season of the Worcestershire County Cricket League (WCL). The Kerala pacer will join the English club from April and is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening Worcester’s bowling attack. 

The Worcestershire County Cricket League is one of England’s prominent club cricket competitions, featuring teams from Worcestershire, Herefordshire, and neighbouring counties. Worcester CC, who will host Thampi, have added the Indian seamer to bolster their pace resources for the upcoming season.

The 32-year-old has represented Kerala at the domestic level and has also made headlines in the IPL across multiple franchises. He has featured in 25 IPL matches for Gujarat Lions, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians, picking up 22 wickets. Thampi first grabbed attention during the 2017 IPL season, where his performances earned him the Emerging Player award while playing for the Gujarat Lions.

Meanwhile, in First-Class cricket, he has claimed 132 wickets from 58 matches, including three five-wicket hauls. In List A cricket, he has taken 58 wickets from 44 matches, with a best of 6/51. His T20 career spans 88 matches, in which he has picked up 90 wickets
