West Indies T20 World Cup Squad: Shai Hope will captain the two-time T20 World Cup champions West Indies, with debutant batter Quentin Sampson and pacer Shamar Joseph earning spots in the squad for the marquee tournament.
Seasoned players Jason Holder, Romario Shepherd, and Rovman Powell have returned to the T20I side, having ignored for the recent Afghanistan series due to T20 commitments. Hope was also absent from the Afghanistan series, having participated in the SA20 tournament.
The West Indies have retained 11 players from their 2022 T20 World Cup squad for the upcoming tournament, which kicks off on February 7 and features 20 teams.
West Indies have lifted the T20 World Cup twice, in 2012 and 2016, and it came under the captaincy of Daren Sammy, who is now their head coach.
The Windies have been placed in Group C along with former champions England, debutant Italy, Nepal, and Scotland.
Before the prestigious tournament, the West Indies will take on South Africa in an away three-match T20I series to bolster their preparations for the T20 World Cup from January 27-31.
Their opening match in the T20 World Cup will be against Scotland in Kolkata on February 7.
