The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026set to be played across India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, is already generating massive buzz, and South Africa are firmly in the spotlight. The Proteas enter the tournament with renewed belief after finishing runners-up in the 2024 edition, a campaign that showcased their ability to handle pressure in crunch games. With conditions in the subcontinent expected to aid both power-hitters and quality spinners, South Africa’s balanced squad makes them one of the most dangerous sides in the competition.

Former India opener Akash Chopra believes the Proteas have what it takes to challenge traditional heavyweights. Despite acknowledging that South Africa could face a demanding path, especially if they share the Super Eights with India and Australia, Chopra feels their depth and versatility give them a genuine shot at the title.
