Bumrah's performance (Photo: PTI)
Jasprit Bumrah Bowling: Jasprit Bumrah means match winner for Team India. The one who cracks down on the score board of India's opponents. But does this identity of Bumrah still persist? Hasn't his edge already weakened? Is Bumrah not getting beaten continuously? Within the last 2 months, Bumrah has been seen beaten badly 4 times. That too especially in deathovers, where he is considered an expert. The question is, what is the reason for Bumrah looking misguided like this? Apart from this, there is also his performance in the last 12 months, which seems to say a lot.
The biggest reason for the increase in Jasprit Bumrah's batting in T20 International could be his struggle with injury. There is a line of injury between Bumrah who was then and Bumrah who is now. Bumrah had made a strong comeback from injury, but Bumrah, who used to escape from the grip of the batsmen earlier, has now started understanding them.
How Bumrah has been beaten in T20 Internationals in recent times can also be known from what happened to him within 2 months. During this period, it was seen 4 times when Bumrah gave away 15 or more runs in a single over. The fourth time this happened to Bumrah was seen in the T20 played against New Zealand in Vizag on the evening of 28 January 2026. Bumrah is considered a death overs specialist. But, as soon as he came to bowl the 19th over in this match, he was beaten severely in that over. He gave away 19 runs in that over, which also became the second most expensive over of his T20 International career.
Bumrah, who gave away 19 runs in one over during the Vizag T20 against New Zealand, gave away 15 runs in the first match of the same series when he bowled the 18th over in the death overs. Meaning, in the same series, twice he gave away 15 or more runs in a single over in the death overs.
In the T20 series played with South Africa in December 2025, Bumrah had given away 15 or more runs in 2 overs of the same match. He gave 16 runs in one over bowled in the powerplay of the match played against South Africa in New Chandigarh on 11 December. When he came to bowl the last i.e. 20th over of the same match, he spent 17 runs. Meaning, Bumrah could neither stop runs in the powerplay nor in the death overs.
Bumrah's performance in the last 12 months also reflects his declining flow of balls in T20 Internationals. In the last 12 months, Bumrah has played 16 matches but has been able to take only 18 wickets. During this period, there is neither a single 5 wicket nor 4 wicket in his account. His best performance is taking 3 wickets for 17 runs in a match. His performance was also seen in the third T20 of the current series against New Zealand.
