DC spinner Kuldeep Yadav shared his insights about what seasoned off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin teaches him. Kuldeep is in outstanding form in the IPL2024 and bowled a match-winning 2/25 in four overs against RR.
After his outstanding performance, Kuldeep admitted that he speaks with Ashwin frequently and they exchange strategies. With stats of 3/24 in four overs, he also commended Ashwin for being the best bowler for RR.
“I speak with him frequently. I learn a lot from him. He bowled brilliantly as well and claimed three vital wickets. The fact that he is the top spinner for RR and we have excellent spinners in our side makes it competitive. I always try to dominate,” stated Kuldeep.
With 14 wickets from nine innings and an economy of 8.20, Kuldeep is Delhi’s second-highest wicket-taker in the 17th season. The wrist-spinner continued his remarks by discussing his brief 5 (2) innings, which began with a four on the leg side. In the previous match, Kuldeep also hit a vital 35 (26) against KKR.
“I always assess the field and know what the bowler would do. It was evident that the deep square leg, square leg, and fine leg were placed. I had assumed that he could bowl slower or shorter balls. I attempted the lap shot for that reason, and fortunately it connected and went to the boundary. I attempted to play a reverse scoop on the very next delivery, but it didn’t connect well. If it had, it would have also been a boundary,” he continued.
DC have maintained their chances of qualifying for the playoffs after defeating RR by 20 runs. With six victories from 12 games and 12 points, they are currently ranked fifth in the standings. They still has games against RCB and LSG to qualify for the playoff.
