South Africa (SA) will look to wrap up the three-match series when they face the West Indies (WI) in the second T20I at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on Thursday, January 29.
In the first T20I in Paarl, South Africa outplayed the West Indies with consummate ease. After Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bowl first, the West Indies lost half their side for 95 runs in the 12th over. Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, and stand-in captain Roston Chase contributed important runs down the order to take the tourists to 173/7 in 20 overs.
However, South African openers made the total look modest with their sublime strokeplay. Inside eight overs, they knocked down almost half the runs. After Lhua-dre Pretorius was dismissed for a 28-ball 44, Markram and Ryan Rickelton took the Proteas home in 17.5 overs. The South African captain remained unbeaten on 86 off 47 balls.
The West Indies will hope that their regular captain, Shai Hope, returns for this clash. The visitors will need to bring their A-game to challenge the strong South African side.
