Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals Controversy : A lot of controversy was seen during the match played between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024. Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals came face to face regarding Sanju Samson's catch out and there was a lot of uproar. This rivalry between Rajasthan and Delhi is not new. Earlier in IPL 2022 also, there was a lot of chaos during the match played between the two teams. At that time, Rishabh Pant got angry at not being given a no ball and called his players back.
In IPL 2022, there was a dispute between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals regarding no ball. Batting first, Rajasthan Royals team made a big score of 222 runs for 2 wickets. Playing in reply, Delhi team was able to score only 207 runs for 8 wickets.
Delhi Capitals needed 36 runs in the last over to win. Obed McCoy came to bowl for Rajasthan Royals and Rovman Powell was on strike for Delhi. Rovman Powell gave hope to his team by hitting three sixes in the first three balls. However, the third ball was a full toss and all the players of Delhi Capitals believed that it was a no ball. However, the umpire did not call it a no ball and getting angry with this, Rishabh Pant called his players back and walked out.
After this, Delhi's assistant coach Praveen Amre was seen going on the field and talking to the umpire. However, the umpires refused to check the ball by going to the third umpire and the Delhi team lost that match. Shardul Thakur was also involved in this entire controversy at that time.
BCCI had taken major action against these three. Captain Pant was fined 100% of his match fee and Shardul Thakur was fined 50% of his match fee. Along with this, Praveen Amre was banned for one match.
