Nat Sciver-Brunt ended the long wait for a first WPL centurion, scoring a hundred for the Mumbai Indians against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Monday.
The English all-rounder scored a 57-ball ton for MI in a crucial match in the race to the Playoffs. She combined for a 131-run partnership off just 73 balls with opener Hayley Matthews. Mumbai posted a challenging 199/4 at the end of its batting essay.
Australian batter Georgia Voll and New Zealand all-rounder Sophie Devine held the previous record for the highest score in WPL history, both falling short of the landmark by one run.
RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana too came close to eclipsing the mark earlier this season, eventually holing out on 96 against the Delhi Capitals.
Sciver-Brunt is also the all-time leading run-scorer in the WPL, aggregating 1347 runs in 35 innings at an average of 50-plus and a strike rate close to 145.
