Scotland on Monday announced their 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which gets underway on February 7 and will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
The European side earned a late entry into the tournament after the International Cricket Council replaced Bangladesh following the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s decision not to send its team to India due to security concerns. Scotland will be led by Richie Berrington and will be making their seventh appearance at the T20 World Cup, having previously featured in six editions: 2007, 2009, 2016, 2021, 2022 and 2024.
In addition to the main squad, Scotland has named two traveling reserves and three non-travelling reserves for the marquee event.
Cricket Scotland’s Head of Performance, Steve Snell, expressed confidence that the selected squad is well-equipped to handle the challenges of subcontinent conditions.
“The coaching staff, selectors and I are all really excited about the squad that has been picked,” Snell said, as quoted by the ICC. “We feel it’s well balanced and caters for a lot of different scenarios and challenges that the team will face in India.”
Snell also highlighted the inclusion of young fast bowler Zainullah Ihsan, calling it a major opportunity for the youngster. “Whenever he’s played at youth level or for the ‘A’ squad, he’s shown an exciting range of skills and bowled at genuine pace. We’re delighted for him and excited to see how he performs on his first international tour,” he said.
He further praised Oli Davidson for earning his maiden call-up. “Oli has worked tirelessly on his skills and shown tremendous desire and work ethic in recent months. He thoroughly deserves this opportunity,” Snell added.
“All the players are excited to take on the best in the world and make the most of the opportunity. This squad is full of high-quality cricketers who are ready to perform and keen to make an impact on the big stage.”
Scotland have been placed in Group C alongside England, Italy, Nepal and the West Indies. They will begin their campaign against the West Indies on February 7 at Eden Gardens.
