Sunrisers Eastern Cape clinched their third SA20 title with a thrilling six-wicket win over Pretoria Capitals in the final at Newlands on January 25. After opting to field, the SEC were put under pressure by a sensational 101 off 56 balls from Dewald Brevis, who single-handedly took the Capitals to 158/7. However, Matthew Breetzke (68) and captain Tristan Stubbs (63) added a record-breaking stand. With nine needed off the final over, Stubbs finished in style with back-to-back sixes, sealing another memorable championship for Sunrisers Eastern Cape with four balls to spare.
Despite the Capitals' batter Dewald Brevis grabbing attention with his ton in the first innings, it was Sunrisers' skipper Tristan Stubbs who stole the show with his bat. The right-hander scored an unbeaten 63 and put up a solid partnership with Matthew Breetzke to guide the team to their third title.
