Before IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has suffered a big setback. Uncapped all-rounder Prashant Veer, who was bought for Rs 14.20 crore in the IPL auction, has become a victim of shoulder injury during a Ranji Trophy match.
The tension of Chennai Super Kings has increased before IPL 2026. Young all-rounder Prashant Veer from Uttar Pradesh has got injured while playing in Ranji Trophy 2025-26. He suffered this injury during the match being played against Jharkhand in Lucknow.
The incident occurred just before the end of the first session on the first day of the match on Thursday (January 22), when Prashant Veer was fielding at mid-off. He landed awkwardly on his right shoulder while diving to block a shot from Shikhar Mohan. After this, he appeared to be in a lot of pain and went out of the field holding his shoulder.
According to the report of ESPNcricinfo, initial investigation has suggested a grade-2 tear in the shoulder. Due to this injury, Prashant Veer may stay away from cricket for at least three weeks, which is a matter of concern for CSK before the IPL.
It is noteworthy that Prashant Veer was bought by CSK in the IPL 2026 mini auction for Rs 14.20 crore. He is the joint most expensive uncapped player in IPL history. In this record his name has been associated with Karthik Sharma.
Prashant Veer was recently seen in great form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He took consecutive wickets in eight matches and also scored important runs in the lower order. CSK is considering him as a long-term option after the departure of Ravindra Jadeja.
Now the franchise and fans will hope that he gets fit on time and returns to the field before the start of IPL 2026.
