There is going to be a big change in English cricket. After the crushing defeat in the recent Ashes Test series, a veteran has announced his resignation from the post of selector. This player has decided to leave this post after the T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka. The England Cricket Board had given this responsibility to this veteran 3 years ago i.e. in November 2022.

Big decision of England selector

Former England all-rounder Luke Wright has decided to resign from the post of selector of the England men's team. He will step down from this role after the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. Wright took up this responsibility in November 2022 at the age of just 37, when he said goodbye to his 20-year professional career. Wright cited being away from family and frequent travels as the reason behind his decision.

Luke Wright said, 'It has been a real honor and privilege for me to serve as a selector for the England men's team for the last three years. I have dedicated myself completely to this role and I am very proud of the players we have developed. “This role involves a lot of travel and time away from home, and with a small family, it is now time for me to hand over the responsibility to the next person. I look forward to whatever cricket-related roles come my way in the future.

Brendon McCullum also in danger

This decision has come at a time when the England team has suffered a crushing 4-1 defeat in the recently concluded Ashes series in Australia. After this defeat, the ECB is reviewing the performance of the entire team, in such a situation there is pressure on head coach Brendon McCullum. Wright's resignation is considered to be the first major change in the team's backstaff after the Ashes defeat.
