Yuzvendra Chahal Creates History: Yuzvendra Chahal, who was recently selected in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup in June, created a brilliant record by dismissing Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant in an IPL 2024 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday. The Rajasthan Royals bowler became the first Indian bowler to reach the 350-wicket mark in the shortest format.
Chahal needed just one wicket to achieve this feat against the Capitals and did so by dismissing Pant. The leg-spinner dismissed Pant for the third time in his IPL career. With this, Chahal became the first Indian bowler to take 350 wickets in his T20 career. He did this in his 301st match in this format. Mumbai Indians veteran bowler Piyush Chawla is second in this list with 310 wickets. Former West Indies cricketer Dwayne Bravo is on the first position with 625 wickets in world T20 cricket. Chahal is the fifth spinner and the sixth Asian bowler to reach 350 wickets in T20 cricket.
Yuzvendra Chahal is fifth in the list of spinners who have taken most wickets in T20 cricket with 350 wickets. Afghanistan's spinner Rashid Khan tops the list. He has so far scored 572 runs in T20 cricket. Then Sunil Narine (549 wickets) is second, Imran Tahir (502 wickets) third, Shakib Al Hasan fourth with 482 wickets.
Chahal is the highest wicket-taker for India in the ongoing IPL 2024, taking 14 wickets in 12 matches so far. His brilliant performances this season earned him a place in India's T20 World Cup squad. The selection committee has included him in the 15-man squad after understanding what the team can expect in the US and West Indies.
