Rajasthan Royals bowlers had a bad day at the office against Delhi Capitals. The team conceded 221/8 in 20 overs. R Ashwin was the best performer for the visiting team but he didn’t get help from the other bowlers.
The off-spinner, who has been under the pump for his performance in the previous games, took three wickets and conceded just 24 runs from his four overs.
However, former India player Irfan Pathan was not pleased with the way Sanju Samson used Ashwin in the game. He highlighted the RR skipper’s mistake on social media.
“Ashwin bowled his first over in the power play and his second in the 10th over. Between those overs two left handers were playing. Sanju should have bowled him earlier,” Irfan Pathan wrote on X.
Jake Fraser-McGurk (50), Abishek Porel (65) and Axar Patel (15) were Ashwin’s scalps.
Earlier, Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl against the Rishabh Plant-led franchise. Tristan Stubbs amassed 41 runs off 20 balls to give momentum to Delhi’s innings in the death overs.
