T20 World Cup 2026: The drama of Bangladesh Cricket Board regarding ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is not ending. In fact, ever since Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was thrown out of IPL by Kolkata Knight Riders, BCB is adamant on not playing in India. After which, citing security and other issues, BCB had demanded to shift its matches to be held in India to Sri Lanka for the T20 World Cup 2026. Now he has placed another demand before the ICC.

Bangladesh placed new demand before ICC

According to a report by Cricbuzz, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has now requested the ICC to swap its group with Ireland, so that all Bangladesh's group stage matches can be played in Sri Lanka.

BCB has made this formal proposal in the meeting held with ICC representatives in Dhaka on 17 January. Group swap is being considered as a way to resolve this issue with minimal logistical changes.

Currently Bangladesh is in Group C, where their matches are to be held in India. He will play three matches against West Indies, Italy and England in Kolkata, while his fourth group match against Nepal will be in Mumbai.

Ireland, on the other hand, are in Group B, and all their matches are in Sri Lanka. They will play against Sri Lanka, Australia and Oman in Colombo, apart from this their last group match against Zimbabwe is scheduled in Kandy. At present, no statement has come from ICC or Ireland on this proposal.

The final decision is in the hands of Ireland

However, some reports say that Ireland have received assurance from the ICC that they will not be forced to swap groups and their matches will remain in Sri Lanka. If the Ireland Cricket Board does not agree then this dispute may increase further.

At the same time, this change can be seen if we get the support of Ireland.
