Zakir Khan, the popular Indian stand-up comedian shared a unique mix of encouragement and humor that lifted spirits across UP Warrioz fans during the ongoing Women's Premier League 2026. Ahead of the fourth match of the season for the franchise, Zakir was keeping a close eye on star cricketer Deepti Sharma while she batted in the nets.

Zakir, who also calls himself as the "Chief Jugaad Officer" at UP Warriorz, was involved in a close call, as the ball hit by Deepti with brutal force almost hit him. The stand-up comedian recalled the incident during a live show ahead of the game, and said in a hilarious manner that he almost got killed by the stroke-making of the Indian all-rounder.

“Deepti ne toh almost meri jaan hi le li thi. Main jab yahan live karne aa raha tha, sach mein marte-marte bacha hoon. Usne itna tez shot maara ki laga ab toh gaya. Bhai, uski power-hitting ka koi jawaab nahi hai. Main bas yahi soch raha tha ki kisi tarah apni jaan bacha loon, kahin ball idhar na aa jaaye. (Deepti almost took my life! On my way here for the live show, I literally survived by a hair’s breadth. She hit that shot so hard it felt like game over! Seriously, her power-hitting is unstoppable — I was just thinking, ‘Let me somehow save my life, make sure the ball doesn’t come this way!)," the popular comedian said via JioStar.

In reply, the chase began swiftly, as skipper Meg Lanningand Kiran Navgire staged a crucial 42-run partnership for the first wicket, as the former departed after scoring 25 off 26. Three runs later, Navgire, too, had to make the long walk back, but it called for Harleen Deol at the crease. The star batter remained unbeaten on 64 off just 39 balls, as the Warriorz claimed their first win of WPL 2026, winning the game by seven wickets and nine balls to spare.
