Mainpuri. Dense fog once again wreaked havoc in the district on Friday morning. There was a massive head-on collision between an eco van filled with school children and a speeding truck in Kurawali police station area. The accident was so severe that the condition of the Eco van driver became critical on the spot and he died during treatment, while six innocent children traveling in the van were seriously injured.

After the collision, the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the local people reached the spot and informed the police. The police immediately sent the injured to the district hospital, where the doctors referred two children to PGI Saifai as their condition became critical.
In the accident, both the legs of Eeco van driver Mohit, son of Haribhan Singh, got badly stuck in the vehicle. After a lot of effort, local people and police took him out and took him to the hospital, but he died during treatment.

According to preliminary information, all the children traveling in the eco van were students of VKG school and were going to school to appear for the examination. The injured include Mayank (11) and his brother Sushant (6) resident of Rajapur, Prashant’s son Vipin (class 5) resident of Rajapur, Aman (class 1) and Arpit (class 1) resident of Bishanpur and a class 2 student. These are said to be three children of the same family.

After first aid, Prashant, Aman, Arpit and the student have been referred to the district hospital in critical condition, while Mayank and Sushant have been admitted to Kurawali Community Health Centre. The condition of four children remains critical.

On receiving the information, SDM Neeraj Dwivedi and police station in-charge Lalit Bhati reached the spot with the police force. Police have taken possession of the truck and started investigation and teams have been formed to search for the absconding driver. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the area after the accident.
