Delhi Capitals secure a 7-wicket win over UP Warriorz in WPL 2026

Delhi Capitals finally managed to open their points account in the Women’s Premier League. DC defeated the UPW by 7 wickets at the DY Patil Stadium on 14 January. Chasing 155 runs for their first victory in three matches, the Capitals reached the target in 20 overs, with Laura Wolvaardt (25) and Marizanne Kapp (5) remaining unbeaten.

Earlier, Meg Lanning’s team was unable to accelerate in the middle overs, managing just 154/8 in 20 overs. Lanning was the top scorer, amassing 54 runs off 38 balls, laced with 9 fours and 1 six.

Harleen Deol, who was surprisingly retired out by the team managed, posted 47 runs off 36 deliveries, including 7 fours. Phoebe Litchfield’s 27 runs came in 20 balls, packed with 5 boundaries.

Kapp was the best bowler of the match, dismissing two batters and conceding just 24 runs from her four overs, which included a maiden as well.

Shafali Varma also impressed with the ball, claiming two scalps and giving away just 16 runs from her 4 overs.

Delhi’s chase was perfectly timed by Lizelle Lee, who accumulated 67 runs off 44 balls, including 8 boundaries and 3 maximums.

She shared a 94-run stand with Shafali in 11.3 overs. Verma took 32 balls to score 36 runs, and her knock was laced with six boundaries.

Delhi have two points from three contests while the Warriorz are still winless after three outings in the ongoing season of the WPL.
