Delhi: Australia’s experienced fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has given positive indications about his fitness after recovering from injury. Hazlewood, who was ruled out of the Ashes series, believes that he will be fully fit before next month’s T20 World Cup.
The right-arm pacer had to stay out of the Ashes series against England since the beginning due to hamstring strain problem. Even during rehab, he again faced problems, due to which his return was delayed. However, now continuous improvement is being seen in his condition.
Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Hazlewood said that his recovery is progressing completely in the right direction. He told that due to not being able to play the Test match, he got extra time, which he used in a better way. Recently he has started bowling with half run-up and his running and strength training is also going on without any problem.
Hazlewood told that some important changes have been made in his fitness routine. Gym sessions and general fitness exercises remain the same, but the bowling workload is being managed in a new way. Under the plan, he will bowl for two or three consecutive days, after which he will take a break of four to five days. This process will be repeated, so that there is no unnecessary pressure on the body.
According to Hazlewood, preparation in white ball cricket is relatively easy, because it is already decided that they have to bowl only four or ten overs. At the same time, Test cricket completely depends on the circumstances. A plan can be made for a Test, but as soon as the series starts, the strategy has to be changed according to the circumstances.
35-year-old Josh Hazlewood also said that he feels young and is getting good signals from his body. He believes that through proper management and balanced training, he can play an important role for Australia in the upcoming big tournaments.
