Amazing cricket is continuously being seen in the Women's Premier League 2026 season. While in the very first match the match was decided with a four on the last ball, in the fourth match itself the first hat-trick of the tournament was seen. Overall, a tremendous amount of thrill and entertainment is being seen. The same trend continued in the fifth match also, when Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriors were face to face. In this match too, three wickets fell in three consecutive balls but this time a hat-trick could not be achieved and the reason for this was not run out but something else.
In this match of WPL 2026 on Monday, January 12, at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Bengaluru, captained by Smriti Mandhana, bowled first. Once again, England's star fast bowler Lauren Bell took the first wicket for him in the third over of the innings itself. Due to the tight bowling of RCB, UP Warriors were already struggling to score runs, but the real trouble fell on Meg Lanning's team in the eighth and ninth overs, when there was a sudden fall of wickets.
It started on the first ball of the 8th over, when Shreyanka Patil dismissed UP captain Lanning. After this, however, Phoebe Litchfield and Kiran Navgire hit a six and a four in this over. But this attack did not last long because UP lost 3 wickets in 3 consecutive balls. First only Lichfield was out and after that Navgire also returned to the pavilion on the next ball. Whereas the new batsman Shweta Sehrawat was out without opening the account on the very first ball. In this way, UP lost 3 wickets in 3 consecutive balls.
But despite this, this hat-trick did not happen and there is a special reason for this.
Actually, UP lost 3 wickets in 3 consecutive balls but they fell in two different overs. Lichfield's wicket fell on the last ball of Shreyanka Patil's over. Navgire and Sehrawat were out on the first two balls of Nadine De Klerk in the next over. Declerc had a chance to complete a hat-trick but it could not happen. Now even though a hat-trick could not be achieved in this innings, RCB put UP Warriors in trouble by taking 4 wickets in just 8 balls.
