Gujarat Giants beat UP Warriorz by 10 runs on Saturday at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai to open its Women’s Premier League 2026 campaign with a win.
The Giants posted 207/4 in 20 overs — its highest-ever total in the tournament — thanks to skipper Ashleigh Gardner’s half-century and key contributions from Sophie Devine, debutant Anushka Sharma, Georgia Wareham, and Bharti Fulmali.
To win the match, the Warriorz had to register the highest successful chase in WPL history, and a swashbuckling Phoebe Litchfield seemed to worry the Giants dugout for a bit.
After Litchfield was sent back, the chase was kept alive by the Warriorz’s tail but some effective death bowling saw the Giants see off the match.More to follow…
